Musings: 2012 in Nails

The whole nail-art trend has become absolutely huge over the past year or so. I love browsing through Tumblr and trawling through tons of tutorials on YouTube to try and copy some of the designs. There are some absolutely amazing nail artists out there, some of my favourites are WAH nails, the Illustrated Nail and Nail Porn. It is fantastic what you can do with a little imagination on a tiny canvas. I tried to get in the Olympic mood earlier this year by putting the Barbados flag on my thumb! A great way to show my support without going overboard!

As a self-confessed nail-varnish addict, I love the way your nails are a simple way to update your outfit as well as your mood. I love the polka-dot design (As you can tell), as it keeps it interesting and there are a multitude of colour combinations.

On a budget?

And if you’re watching the pennies, doing your nails yourself is a great way to have something to concentrate on without craving clothes and accessories. It is all about creativity and experimentation, there is no right or wrong way to do your nails, just grab a few polishes and get painting! Just remember to use a base-coat and a top-coat to seal in the colour.

Loving this post!! Great tip on redirecting your fashion craving, but I am partial to the odd manicure treatment now and then 😉

About Me

Welcome to my little space on the internet, known as Memoirs and Musings. I’m Char, short for Charlotte and my blog/website/diary is dedicated to documenting my Memoirs and Musings, hence the name. I wouldn’t say I was your ‘typical’ blogger either. I don’t care about getting the perfect flatlay or feeling bad for not posting, I just enjoy writing. If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading. Anyway, I love to travel, indulge in a glass of white wine, when plans are cancelled and purchase overpriced make up.  I guess that’s me in a nutshell, trying to figure out this thing called life, have fun and never lose sight.
