Musings: It’s Britney B!tch, My Favourite Britney Songs

The legendary Miss Britney Spears released a new album the other week (Glory) and a date at the Apple Music Festival which I sadly don’t have tickets for… This prompted me to spend an evening re-living my greatest Britney memories, she really does have quite the back catalogue. Whilst she may not be known for her expansive vocal range, Spears represented the 90s American dream, a girl from a small town thrust into the world of fame and stardom. I have been a fan since I was 8 or 9 years old and I still very much am today, as much as I love R&B and Hip Hop, I really am a Pop fan at heart.

Here are my favourite Britney songs and videos categorised by dance, pop, slow, sensual… Perhaps you might see your favourite here?

Dance

Gimme More

*insert slut drop here*

Break the Ice

I’m pretty sure this is the sequel to the Toxic but this song is just SO damn good… Possibly an underrated one in the Britneysphere it combines all the elements of dance, pop and those classic Britney breathy notes.

Slave 4 U
Britney is the ultimate abspiration in this – I wouldn’t mind prancing around with a snake if I had those…

Circus
Me when I enter a club…
I feel the adrenaline moving through my veins (hah, hah, hah)
Spotlight on me and I’m ready to break (hah, hah, hah)
I’m like a performer, the dancefloor is my stage (hah, hah, hah)
Better be ready, hope that ya feel the same (hah, hah, hah)

Overprotected
The dance break makes me wish I had enough friends to re-enact it with…

Other notable mentions: Outrageous, Mannequin, Womanizer, Up & Down, Boys, The Answer, Radar, Freakshow, Perfect Lover,

Pop

My Prerogative
They can never take away your truth, the question is… Can you handle mine?

Sometimes
Classic classic Britney. Sometimes I blog, sometimes I rant, sometimes I’m scared of it, but I all really want is to travel the world but at the moment I can’t!

Toxic
The outfit changes, the guys, the motorbikes, the fact that I used to call myself Toxic Char denotes a special place in my heart.

Other notable mentions: Me Against The Music, Oops I Did It Again, Stronger, Just Luv Me, Showdown and Break the Ice.

Slow

Born To Make You Happy

I swear the piano tune sounded reminiscent of EastEnders…
Everytime

Enough said… what a tearjerker…

I’m Not a Girl Yet A Woman
I’ll be in Vegas again in October, where I hope to reenact this video (and probably cry when I realise I’m still going through my quarter life crisis). Hopefully I’ll find the answers to everything…

Other notable mentions: Lucky, Don’t Let Me Be the Last to Know and Blur.

Sensual

Right, so clearly this is what Britney does best with those hot and heavy breathy notes… I won’t make any comments but this is my faaaaavourite Britney sub-genre.

Touch of My Hand

Breathe on Me

Inside Out

Strangest Love

And Then we Kiss

Unusual You

Other notable mentions: Early Mornin’, Phonography (reminds me of when I first got a smart phone), Criminal (we all love a bad boy), Heaven on Earth, Don’t Go Knockin’ On My Door, and Shattered Glass.

I love how you split it into categories, cause it’s got me thinking about my faves. Perfume is a solid slow song though!
