Traveling the world is something we all need to do – at least a little bit anyway. From a short city break to a long adventure – it doesn’t matter as long as you can get out of the house and see the world.
In fact, you don’t even need to get out of your bed. You can stay snug and book a great holiday, right now. It’s not just about booking and buying though – technology and the internet have changed the way we travel forever – through the dawn of the app. I wrote about apps to use day-to-day, but let’s dive into the apps that can simplify travel for you.
Uber
A great example of this would be Uber. In most major cities, you simply need to whip your mobile phone out, download the Uber app, hail a cab to your exact location and pay from your bank account instead of messing around with local currency. Of course, you don’t need to travel worldwide to find the benefits to the Uber app – but it’s handiness is multiplied when you’re in new surroundings.
Google Maps
The same goes for Google Maps, which is an absolute lifesaver. Not only can its easy to use GPS point you in the right direction if you can’t read a map, it can speak directions out to you like a TOMTOM device. What’s more, it will even recommend the best food and restaurants to you, so you won’t ever have to venture far from your hotel to find good eats. Google translate can also get you out of some sticky and frustrating situations when you’re stuck for language…
Holiday
Booking the holiday? I did mention that you wouldn’t have to untuck yourself from your warm duvet. There is no end to the holiday apps – from providers to websites – that will search for great holidays. Expedia is the biggest one and compares hotel and flight packages as well as car rental. If you want to build your own holiday, which can be cheaper, simply combine apps. Skyscanner allows you to find the cheapest flights, sometimes at the last minute. Kayak works the same way, but also has exclusive deals to the app that you can’t find anywhere else. Variety is good here as it will allow you to find the best deal when you book your holiday.
Let Me Entertain You
You can also feel free to skip the in-flight entertainment. Apps like Movie Box, Kindle and Comixology mean that you can get the movies you want to watch, the books you want to read and the comics you want to flick through, so you can make your plane ride a lot less boring. Pocket is another great app as it can save long-reads and articles to your storage, meaning you can read up no matter where in the world you are.
