Surprisingly, this is one of trips I didn’t blog about, but I visited the beautiful island of Majorca back in 2016 as a last-minute (and pretty random trip). If I’m honest, it’s not somewhere I had set my sights on visiting but me being the travel blogger I am, I have to be open and of course willing to try new food, I mean new places…
Anyway, to compensate for not blogging about my trip, here are my 7 reasons why you should visit Majorca, especially Alcudia….
1. Flying Time
Only around 2 and half hours flying time from London (and other parts of the UK), Majorca makes an ideal getaway for a long weekend and plenty of budget airlines like RyanAir and EasyJet fly in to Palma. Majorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and whilst you might just want to relax on the beach, there is plenty to do and explore.
2. A Quick Weekend
As I mentioned in reason number one, a quick weekend is the perfect reason to visit the island of Majorca. You can rent a car or get around using the public transport system if you don’t fancy driving or are on a budget. Just a word of a warning, the taxis are a little pricey, so I would avoid these unless your budget is more Bill Gates than broke backpacker. If you want somewhere cheap to store your luggage, search lockers Santa Lucia train station. For my other budget hacks, check out my post from earlier this year on living bougie on a budget.
3. It’s Not Just Magaluf
Whilst the island of Majorca is famed for party destination Magaluf, there is SO much more to it than partying. Whilst it may be popular for the under 25s (I have closed this chapter of my life goodbye), it’s a great place for *cough* families and friends.
4. No Drama in Palma
Palma is the capital of the Balearic Islands and there is so much beauty and history to it. I thought I’d spend my whole weekend by the pool or sea but visiting this town made my trip a little more special. When, not if, I go back I’ll be sure to spend a little more time here.
5. Adoring Alcudia
Besides Palma and Magaluf, Alcudia is another popular part in the island of Majorca famed for its beautiful resorts and white sandy beaches. I wish I had more time to spend here, but again its more of a reason to go back. If anything the beaches reminded me of Barbados! Next time, I’ll be booking with Holiday Gems.
6. The Weather
Honestly, this needs no words.
7. The Food
This is gonna sound pretty random, but I had the best Indian meal of my entire life in Majorca. I didn’t get any photos. I can’t remember the name of the restaurant, but sometimes the best memories aren’t captured.
Have you been to Majorca?

I won’t even lie, I thought Majorca was only good for Magaluf which is why I wasn’t to keen on going! But Palma looks lovely, must add to my travel list!

Sounds great and I will consider it for a long weekend getaway as sounds really easily accessible from London.
