The bedroom is the sanctuary for most of us. We spend a third of our lives asleep meaning a third of our lives are spent in the bedroom. Unless you like to sleep elsewhere…
2022 is all about new. It’s a new decade that has been dubbed the Roaring 20s for a reason. Now whilst you (or me) may not have the budget of the other famous 20s icon, The Great Gatsby, it doesn’t mean your bedroom interiors won’t be on trend for this year. I’ll be delving into a few trends in the post to give your personal sanctuary some life this year.
Classic Blue
The Pantone colour a few years ago was classic blue. It’s clean, elegant and brings a sense of peace and calm to the place you need it most. It need not cost you the world either. All you need is a lick of paint or some accessories to get you started. A couple of ideas to get the upholstery vibes going:
– Painting over your bed-frame
– Painting individual chest of drawers (this works well if the base is white)
– You can never go wrong with a classic blue feature wall either
Go for Grey
Much like classic blue, grey doesn’t mean dark or dull. Monotone colours in the bedroom keep you grounded and why not start with a grey fabric bed?
I haven’t bought a new bed in over 15 years and I think it’s time to look for a new one. I’d never considered a fabric bed before and the more I think about it, the more I want one.
My favourite colour is black and well a black bed doesn’t appeal to me but a grey fabric one does. A grey bed with a classic blue throw means I’ll be on trend and calm in my own personal space.
Millennial Pink
Pink is still in. This beautiful hue had it’s moment in the late 2010s and was seen absolutely everywhere, from coffee shops, to cosmetics and of course the home. Pink doesn’t need to be garish or scary if you chose the right shade. Millennial pink looks beautiful in small doses. Why not try a chair, ottoman or chest?
Textures
Touch, feel, stroke.
Don’t you just love being toasted up in your duvet like a warm cinnamon bun straight out of Crosstown Doughnuts?! No one likes a moth eaten or scratchy blanket that simply needs to binned or used to line your pet’s bed.
On the subject of pets, why not bring some fur in? I don’t mean real fur, unless that’s your thing… I mean faux fur. Imagine chilling out on a faux fur rug with a glass of Malbec, a few candles lit and your favourite book? Sounds like heaven to me. There are lots of faux fur options out there today and if you want to keep costs down I would suggest going to your local market where you can purchase it by the metre. Faux fur duvet anyone?
And if you ever considered moving all things upstairs and converting your loft space, you’d be a fool not to check out Live in Lofts. This is an innovative way to make use of an overlooked area of your home and turn it into something great, especially as the views would be insane!
Will you be redecorating your bedroom this year? I know I will! Comment below and let me know, or tweet me here.

I love faux fur rugs, they make a room feel so comfy and cosy and add a nice texture to a room too! xo
