Musings: Planning My Dream Trip

For some people, the holiday of a lifetime might be kept until the retirement years. Others might have been planning it since they were quite young and are ready to go before or after University. But the reality is, as long as it is planned well, anyone can have the holiday of their dreams. That is what it takes, some planning. So if you’ve got a dream destination in mind, then read on, and you could be making your dream trip a reality.

Choose Your Location

If you’re like me, you might have a bucket list of destination as long as your arm. So when it comes to choosing the ultimate trip, you need to think carefully about where the best place will be. It doesn’t always have to be the place that is the most far flung. It could simply be somewhere that has special meaning to you, like wandering around Auschwitz or exploring the streets of Rome. So think about places you’d love to visit and decide what will be most special and exciting, and you can go from there.

Do Your Research

When you know where you want to go, it is time to look into all that things that you can do there. It needs to be planned ahead of time so that you can have plans in place if needed, and you won’t spend your evenings planning the next day when you’re there. So speak to people that have been there before. Look at travel blogs, website reviews, and perhaps even a trip to a good travel agent. You want to do the best things when you’re there, right?

Set a Budget

So you’ve planned your location and the things that you want to do there. Now is the time to set and plan a budget for the trip. Travel will be a lot of the expense, especially if it is a long-haul destination. But set aside money for food, accommodation, and the day trips, car rental or whatever else you think you might need. Then you can have an idea of how long it will take you to put that money aside for what you need. If you find that you don’t have much left over each month to put aside, then it could be worth looking at something like secured debt consolidation loans to help you. When your debt is all in one place, it can often mean paying less interest each month, helping you to save and put some money aside.

Book and Insure

It is important to make sure that you when you book your trip, you get travel insurance alongside it. It is also a good idea to book an ATOL protected trip, as this is the best way to protect yourself and not lose any money, should things not go to plan with airlines or holiday companies. From there, you can start the countdown and getting all of the essentials that you’ll need for the trip. Then you can go away and have your dream holiday!

  2. Musings: Manmade and Natural in Cape Town – Memoirs & Musings says:

[…] Picking a dream location for a vacation gets harder the more experienced a traveler you are. For some people, they’re running out of bucket list items. For others, they have far too many to choose. Well, if we can be so bold as to impose an idea, then Cape Town has to be one that doesn’t get recommended nearly enough. There are very few places in the world that offer the mix of the natural and the made-made, the wild and the comfortable, the gorgeous and the decadent, quite as well. […]

About Me

Welcome to my little space on the internet, known as Memoirs and Musings. I’m Char, short for Charlotte and my blog/website/diary is dedicated to documenting my Memoirs and Musings, hence the name. I wouldn’t say I was your ‘typical’ blogger either. I don’t care about getting the perfect flatlay or feeling bad for not posting, I just enjoy writing. If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading. Anyway, I love to travel, indulge in a glass of white wine, when plans are cancelled and purchase overpriced make up.  I guess that’s me in a nutshell, trying to figure out this thing called life, have fun and never lose sight.
