Musings: My Holiday Vibes Playlist

Summer is coming slowly but surely. The clocks went forward and the extra hour of daylight means I will no longer resemble a cast member from The Walking Dead.

Something about summer

There is something about summer which makes me wanna hit the beer garden, chill out in the park or sit in front of a fan all day. But let’s face it, I have to go to work and I prefer going away in winter when it’s cheaper. I will have to bear through the sweaty Central line for a few months longer before its time for my next holiday. For now, here a few songs that always get me in the mood for summer, holidays and sunny days.
Dizzee Rascal – Holiday

This reminds me of my trips to Turkey in 2009 and 2010 where the alcohol was flowing and dancing on tables was the motive.

DJ Khaled featuring Drake – For Free
The ‘stomach on flat flat’ line is instant gymspiration. But for more gym tunes, see here.

Aaliyah – Rock the Boat
Aaliyah will always be missed but her music will live on.
Beyonce – Standing in the Sun

Usher – Good Ol’ Ghetto
The 8701 album was SO good! This song always takes me back to the days of secondary school.

Rihanna – We Ride
Kendrick Lamar – Swimming Pools
The only place to cool down.

Rupert Holmes – Pina Colada Song
Probably a random one on my holiday vibes playlist BUT who doesn’t like pina colada’s and getting caught in rain?
Kylie Minogue – Slow
How everything feels when it’s humid.
Lana Del Rey – Ride
Mentioned in my LA playlist, Ride will always remind me of the place that experiences a perennial summer. See you soon LA.
What songs remind you of summer?
