Bring the skin clinic to your London home.
If you’ve never heard of Dermoi before, they do just that, they bring the skin clinic to your London adobe. Pre-Covid, I never had a need to have salon treatments done at home, I always thought they were for celebrities, busy mums or those who worked ‘unusual’ hours. Now after being at home for over a year, working where I live and living where I work, it only feels right that I bring my beauty treatments home too. Not only that, it’s convenient and works to my schedule.
The Dermoi booking process is simple, you book a treatment, select a date and time and a qualified aesthetician will arrive at your home.
In ‘normal’ times I am quite strict with my facial routine and have them done every 4-6 weeks. Personally, there is only so much your at home routine can do and a facial offers the chance to have a deep cleanse, exfoliation, or in my case a peel, which is what I opted for with Dermoi.
I went for the ‘PCA Skin Facial Peel’ which you can find details of below:
PCA Skin Facial Peel
Most facial peels cause too much skin damage and leave the skin vulnerable. The PCA Skin facial peel is a progressive, not aggressive procedure that resurfaces, tightens, and lifts the skin without damage.
The PCA skin facial peel never surpasses the epidermis to preserve our collagen but goes deep enough to be effective (the dermal-epidermal junction). It combines enzymatic and/or chemical peeling (20% mandelic acid + 10% lactic acid) to leave the skin bright, re-texturized, but also strengthened. For those who want an extra boost, an advanced treatment booster can be incorporated to give a 10hr release of a potent retinoid blend. This enhances the resurfacing and rejuvenating power of the peel, without any additional damage.
The result is a customisable facial peel that gives uniform, glowing skin to any skin. The downtime for this treatment can be up to 48 hours.
My Experience
My aesthetician arrived promptly at 8pm with her equipment all ready to set up. As with most home treatments, they will have to work with your home set up and ensure you’re comfortable during your treatment. That may mean you’ll need to provide a pillow and towel but of course, as you’re at home, it only means grabbing one from your bathroom or bedroom.
Whilst setting up, I had to fill in a questionnaire which essentially ensured my suitability for the treatment. Of course, from a safety point of view, this is an absolute must and I’m glad Dermoi take this seriously!
A couple of things I remember being asked is my skin type, my diet (let’s not go there, it’s been a hard year), my sleeping pattern, if I’d had any recent sun exposure etc. I think you kind of get the gist of it. Given that the treatment is a peel, it isn’t suitable for everyone, so it is absolutely essential a pre-screening is done to ensure I was suitable. If any new aesthetician you go to doesn’t do one, run!
After I was deemed suitable for the treatment, it began! I was given a disposable headband to avoid any product going into my hair and I laid down on my sofa and the aesthetician got to work.
She explained every step of the process and I couldn’t have felt more at ease. I was worried in the beginning that a ‘peel’ meant my skin had to ‘peel’ (e.g a chemical peel) but that wasn’t the case. The PCA skin facial peel is all about resurfacing and rejuvenating the skin to give you that beautiful lit from within glow. In terms of ‘pain’ there was none, only a slight tingle which would be a 0.5/10 on the pain scale. Overall, the results speak for themselves and glowing skin can be achieved on your schedule. Thank you Dermoi!
Peels don’t mean your skin has to ‘peel’.
