Although I seem to solo travel my way around the globe these days, every now and then I like to go on a family trip. There is something heartwarming (and a little stressful) about going away with your nearest and dearest but what I have learnt over the years is to match the travel group to destination. One of those destinations being Gran Canaria.
Here are a few reasons why you you should consider a trip with your fam.
Gran Canaria ia geographically blessed by being off the coast of North West Africa meaning it maintains temperatures in the 20s and 30s in peak seasons. In January, temperatures drop to 15C, so if you want a break where you’re enjoying the indoor pool and spa, this is it. So ‘weather’ you want to go in summer or winter, there will be no signs of snow here.
Travelling as a family means you need to be entertained. Spending all day at the beach can get a little boring if you’re not the sunbathing types. A few things to do in Gran Can are:
Travelling with family means its more affordable to eat big sharing platters rather than individual meals, so paella is on the cards with tons of Papas arrugadas (which the Cananaries is famed for).
From Playa Del Inges, Maspalomas, Las Canteras and Mogan, there are SO many beaches perfect for sunbathing, swimming and surfing. My favourite is Amadores, the quiet beach, where the water is blue and current is just as chilled. However, if you encounter any issues abroad, sites like Customer Service Guru will ensure you speak to a member of staff about your problems abroad right away.
Holiday Gems sum up Gran Canaria perfectly:
“Gran Canaria really is the ultimate destination for your Canaries break. Action and adventure awaits you on this spectacular island, with vast natural landscapes and fun-filled pursuits.”
You can book your holiday with them here. I’ll be seeing you at the beach or the waterpark! Don’t forget your goggles.
