Musings: Travel Tech with Speck

Please note, these products were sent for my review by the team at Speck.

Confession: I drop my phone at least twice a day. It’s either down to my butter fingers or my phone falling from a high surface like a desk or counter. And whenever I pick my phone from the floor there is always that feeling of suspense – is my phone cracked or not? The relief when it isn’t is comparable to euphoria (well just a little).

Our phones are precious to us, even though we don’t want to admit it. And with anything precious, we need to protect it. The same way you would want protect a new born baby is the way protect your tech.

This is where Speck comes in.

Their phone cases will protect your phone from drops of up to 4 metres (13 ft). The days of cracks are over. Not only that they feature innovative Microban technology, which is basically a protective layer on the phone case that will stop bacterial growth for the lifetime of the case.  This is important as I hear there are 10 times more germs on phones than toilet seats. Ew.

Phone cases may be simply functional but they are mini-fashion statements are they not?

I like to change my phone case regularly, simply because I can. Some days I want something bold, other days I want to be muted, if I can change my outfit, I can change my phones outfit too.

Change your case according to your mood… or outfit!

GrabTabs

Before trying out GrabTabs, my hands were accustomed to Popsockets or PopRings (whatever they’re called) and to be quite honest they were uncomfortable. Not only that the metal on the Pop Rings had to begun to rust after a while. Speck’s ‘GrabTabs’ are an innovative design made from fabric which allow you to comfortably slip you fingers underneath to hold your device. This came in particularly handy on my recent trip to Vienna, especially when shooting content!

Slide, Grip, Stand

GrabTab™ is a card-sized super-slim (3mm thick) accessory that gives you a secure way to hold your phone or stand it up for viewing—and also allows for wireless charging. Just stick GrabTab to the back of your phone and slide the flexible centre strip until it locks in place. Slip your fingers through the loop to hold your phone comfortably while taking selfies, texting, and more. Turn your phone sideways, and the loop becomes a convenient stand for watching videos or hands-free chatting.

All that glitters is not gold, shop this case here.

Speck offer protection and style in one. If you’re interested in finding out more about the design process, this video is a must watch:

We often think about the end result when it comes to our tech purchases – how it looks, what it feels like but so much goes into the process from idea to final product.

Speck’s products are available online via Amazon.co.uk as well as with UK retailers including John Lewis, Three, Carphone Warehouse and Tesco.

Are your tech accessories important to you?

About Me

Welcome to my little space on the internet, known as Memoirs and Musings. I’m Char, short for Charlotte and my blog/website/diary is dedicated to documenting my Memoirs and Musings, hence the name. I wouldn’t say I was your ‘typical’ blogger either. I don’t care about getting the perfect flatlay or feeling bad for not posting, I just enjoy writing. If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading. Anyway, I love to travel, indulge in a glass of white wine, when plans are cancelled and purchase overpriced make up.  I guess that’s me in a nutshell, trying to figure out this thing called life, have fun and never lose sight.
