My natural hair has changed over the years due to two hot ceramic plates I can’t put down. However, quarantine has given me the time and space to get to know my hair again, how to style it, and what products and tools work. I like to mix up my routine frequently and some weeks I blow dry it straight and others I leave it curly and sometimes I like to use straighteners.
Please excuse my roots, I haven’t had them bleached since last August, so at the moment they look like they are being kidnapped by any ends. I also haven’t my quarterly Brazilian blow-dry since October, so when it comes to lockdown styling, I am winging it!
I try to focus on straightening from the root and guided downwards or at an angle with a brush or comb. My natural hair is curly so I usually go over the section three times to ensure it lasts.
When it comes to straightening my hair, my attitude is straight hair, don’t care but I don’t straighten it all the time. The Kipozi mini straightener is brilliant for getting poker straight locks from the root. Best of all, they’re lightweight and the 0.9 inch ceramic plates really allow you to be in control.
With the round outer coverings, it means that you can also create curls and those bouncy beach waves. This is great for travelling as you don’t necessarily want to take your bulky standard straighteners due to luggage restrictions. Best of all, they heat up super fast with the highest heat setting of 190C means you won’t need to worry about heat damage.
Finish up with a littler serum or hairspray and you’re ready to hit the city or club.
You can purchase it on Amazon here.
Have you been trying any new hairstyles during lockdown?

Welcome to my little space on the internet, known as Memoirs and Musings. I’m Char, short for Charlotte and my blog/website/diary is dedicated to documenting my Memoirs and Musings, hence the name. I wouldn’t say I was your ‘typical’ blogger either. I don’t care about getting the perfect flatlay or feeling bad for not posting, I just enjoy writing. If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading. Anyway, I love to travel, indulge in a glass of white wine, when plans are cancelled and purchase overpriced make up. I guess that’s me in a nutshell, trying to figure out this thing called life, have fun and never lose sight.
