Looking around my home I never really connected any of my furniture, decor or artwork to travel until I started writing this blog post. Every piece of design in today’s world is influenced by culture or history in some way place or form.
This is one of my favourite eras and whilst I don’t have any Art Deco furniture at the moment, I can draw upon this era for make up and fashion inspiration. From the glitz and glamour to the smokey eyes and red lips, nothing embodies this era more than opulence and decadence.
Whilst I am yet to visit the land of Morocco, I feel like I’m there with this gorgeous rug I was kindly gifted from Land of Rugs. If you’ve never heard of them they’re a Derby based online retailer and best of all…
“We source our rugs intelligently through trusted manufacturers using global importers, and our extensive selection includes designer styles, modern, traditional, shaggies and children’s rugs. With so much variety on offer.”
Influenced by the Moroccan Beni Ourain style which originates from the Atlas Mountains. The Morocco range offers fabulous style and sumptuous feel thanks to being tufted with a soft microfibre acrylic yarn.
I can only describe the rug as the softest thing my feet have ever stepped on. If clouds were woven together, this would be it. Not only that, it fitted in perfectly with my burgundy carpet and made a great background for blog content. To be honest I’m considering ditching my sofa naps for the rug now.
Scandi inspired decor is all about minimalism, use of natural materials and functionality. Could I live in a Scandinavian Art Deco and Moroccan inspired home in future? Yes! Maybe not all in the same room but different parts of my home. Now all I need to do is play the lottery to make my dreams true. For now, I’ll be scouring the Land of Rugs website.

I love concerts, 6am flights, 90s R&B, cancelled plans and wine. My blog Memoirs and Musings is all about documenting my travels infusing my personal experiences (memoirs) and a few musings along the way.
