Musings: Reliving 90s Nostalgia (Again)

Please note, this is a collaborative post with Walkers.

“The 90s and the early 2000s were a simpler, hassle-free time when I remember running home from school to watch the latest episode of Pokemon. These were the days before smartphones and social media where everything just seemed a little more authentic.”

I’d previously written a post here about my love of the 90s and early 2000s and I always find myself drawn to things of this era. On top of that, the fact that I’m seeing The Spice Girls next week at Wembley Arena has got me planning my outfit from head to toe. Which Spice Girl will I be? A mix of them all or my favourite – Baby?

Luckily for Walkers fans, this means the title of “best ever fan” could still theirs.
Out of the many hilarious and over the top submissions that were entered into Walkers’ Best Ever Fan Challenge in the week leading up to the ad premier, one lucky fan will take the title thanks to Dev’s misstep. Fans were asked to post a Spice Girls related snapshot from back in the day, or to create something new and share on their social channel of choice, tagging
@Walkers_Crisps and hashtagging #BestEverFan.

It was an era of being carefree, happy and a life before technology (namely social media) changed everything. I remember spending hours reading Goosebumps cover to cover, being outside until the sun went down and the beginnings of dial-up internet.

The movies were fantastic – think Mrs Doubtfire, Jurassic Park, Toy Story, The Mighty Ducks. Don’t get me started on TV shows either – I actually do wonder if I went outside as a kid but in no particular order these are a few of my favourite shows:

The fashion was laidback and somewhat questionable – think spaghetti straps, tie dye and the grunge look. These looks have made a resurgence recently and whilst I may not be reaching for the spaghetti straps, the 90s band tees make great ‘off-day’ glam.

Remember this post I wrote about band tees?

It was also the era of the supermodel with the majority being household names and representing a specific type of beauty. From Naomi Campbell’s iconic walk to Kate Moss donning the heroin chic look, there was something for everyone.

I do long for life to go back to simpler times. We all need to get off our phones, talk to each other and remember how simple life was in the 90s. When did things get so complicated?

    Loved the 90s!! Although I was aged 0-10 in those years, still remember the tv shows being better, being able to play out til it got dark and none of this social media and phones era.. people actually talked to each other haha!

About Me

Welcome to my little space on the internet, known as Memoirs and Musings. I’m Char, short for Charlotte and my blog/website/diary is dedicated to documenting my Memoirs and Musings, hence the name. I wouldn’t say I was your ‘typical’ blogger either. I don’t care about getting the perfect flatlay or feeling bad for not posting, I just enjoy writing. If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading. Anyway, I love to travel, indulge in a glass of white wine, when plans are cancelled and purchase overpriced make up.  I guess that’s me in a nutshell, trying to figure out this thing called life, have fun and never lose sight.
